Study Room Policy (Tarver)
Group and individual study rooms are available at Tarver Library for patron use. A valid MUID is required to access these study rooms. If requested, patrons are required to show their MUID to library staff.
The Tarver Library offers a variety of study room options all of which are on a first-come, first serve basis:
- Individual Study Rooms (Floors 1, 2, & 3): These study rooms vary in size but can typically accomodate 1 – 4 students.
- Group Study Rooms (Floor 3): These study rooms are locked and are for groups of (5) or more. The keys may be collected from the Circulation desk. All students (5+ more) must be present at the Circulation desk to receive a key for verification purposes. The patron who checks out the key will incur a key replacement fee if the key is lost or damaged.
- Law and Medical Student Study Rooms (Floor 3): There are (4) designated group study rooms for LAW and MED students on Floor 3. The keys may be collected at the Circulation desk.
Study Room Conduct: Study rooms are consistently monitored and under video surveillance. Failure to abide by the above policies may result in expulsion from study rooms or the library. Violations under the Student Code of Conduct will be reported to the Dean of Students.
- Items should be left unattended in study rooms.
- Mobile whiteboards should not obstruct study room windows or doors.
- Vandalization will not be tolerated. Do not damage, write, or draw on study room walls or furniture. Individuals who are caught vandalizing study rooms will be asked to leave the library and will be reported to the Dean of Students.
- Individuals who exhibit inappropriate behavior or use the study rooms improperly will be asked to leave the library and will be reported to the Dean of Students.
- Alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, and vape / vape accessories are not permitted in study rooms.
Although individual rooms are enclosed, they are in clusters or in spaces utilized by students in group-study scenarios. As such, the Libraries do not guarantee absolute silence in study spaces. Students are asked to refrain from excessive noise whether in groups, or if utilizing phones, conferencing media, or other mediums and devices. All students are asked to show respect to one another and to the Library staff when using these spaces.
Report any inappropriate behavior and use to the Circulation desk at (478) 301-2961. After hours, please notify Mercer Police at (478) 301-2970.
