Lactation Room Policy

The Mercer University Libraries provides lactation rooms at both Swilley and Tarver Libraries. The rooms provide a private space for feeding infants or expressing milk. The rooms are available to Mercer faculty, staff, and students and are available when the Library is open. 
  • These rooms are not intended for:
    • Use as a lounge, study room, or meeting room
    • Organized group activities or meetings
    • Socializing or work break times
    • Storage
  • The rooms are to be used on a first-come, first-served basis during regular library hours. 
  • It is the responsibility of everyone using the lactation rooms to clean up after themselves. 
  • Personal items should not be left in the rooms. Individuals using the space are responsible for personal accessories. 
  • Time restriction – 60 minutes maximum. 
  • The Library is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

  • Swilley Library, Room 117
  • Tarver Library, Room 367

Access

  • Available on a first-come, first served basis. 
  • Door remains locked at all times. To access the room, please check out the key at the Circulation Desk. 

Features

  • No visibility into or out of the space. 
  • Comfortable chair and small table. 
  • Outlet. 
  • Restrooms and sinks are located on the same floor as the lactation room.
