This collection contains correspondence and papers from the life of Coleman Clarke. There are also some correspondence, pamphlets, and photographs from his parents, W. Harvey and Lucile Daniel Clarke and their time as missionaries in Japan. The publications in this collection were collected by Clarke and cover topics related to his missionary work in Japan.

The Helen Shaw Harrold Papers contains one scrapbook compiled by Helen Shaw Harrold, documenting the Women’s Suffrage Movement, 1915-1916. Pages are loose, no longer bound. The scrapbook contains news clippings, publications, by-laws and documents, and personal letters and notes. Contents are in the order in which Ms. Shaw compiled them.

The Frank Arthur Hooper III Collection consists of 29 carte de visites, 16 cabinet cards, and one memory book. The items were donated by Marjorie F. Hooper, widow of Frank Arthur Hooper, III, who was the grandson of Frank Arthur Hooper of the Mercer University class of 1885. During his grandfather’s time at Mercer, he collected carte de visites of classmates and other students during that time. Most of the cabinet cards are unlabeled and are likely of family members.

The Allison James Johnson Collection consists of two large, heavy ledgers. The accounts have been obscured by hundreds of clippings of secular and religious import, most of which are undated. Some dates can be found: 1905, 1926, and 1929.

Scope and Contents The William H. Kilpatrick Collection of consists of papers of William Heard Kilpatrick from 1875, 1889-1969. The papers include clippings, correspondence, class notes, lectures, printed material, sermon notes, speeches, radio scripts, and Kilpatrick’s writings on progressive education. The correspondence (1875, 1890-1965) includes personal and business letters relating to Kilpatrick’s publications and teaching careers at Mercer University and Columbia University, as well as his views on...

Scope and Contents The collection consists of papers of Jesse Mercer from 1813-1841. The papers contain mostly correspondence to and from Mercer discussing the business of the Georgia Baptist Association, Baptist education, the establishment of the Hickory Log School in the Cherokee Nation for the education of Indians, Columbian College, and Mercer Institute at Penfield (Georgia).
