Scope and Contents

Most of the letters in this collection relate to a member of “The Greatest Generation” and “The Girl He Left Behind”—but later married. This collection contains many letters between Mr. Ayers to his wife, Daphne, as well as from family members and friends. There are also copies of Mr. Ayers’ Veterans Administration Financial Records, photographs, mixed materials, notebooks, eyeglasses, lists, booklets, and cards.

The A. O. Bacon Papers contains one letter (1864) and three diaries (1853, 1861, and 1868). The collection may have been received through Dr. Spencer King.

The collection contains Willis B. Glover’s personal data sheet, various correspondence, articles and publications, history lecture notes at the University of Virginia and Mercer University, and miscellaneous notes. The collection also contains articles and clippings from various authors.

The Victor C. Heck collection consists of three general topics: research and writing, book reviews by Heck, and tobacco litigation for which Heck testified.

Scope and Contents Folders 1-13 contain approximately 60 letters from both C. C. Anderson and Henry Bunn while serving the Confederate Army, as well as between other members of the Bunn family during the Civil War.Folder 14 contains a White and Lord Leger No. 1, kept with only a few exceptions by Christopher Cowan Anderson, that originally had a complete set of alphabetical pages and about 370 numbered pages. The Donald M. Bain collection contains a scrapbook about Donald M. Bain’s life as a Scottish American who served in the Confederate Army. The volume is hardback and measures 8” x 10” x 2.25”.

The Henry McCleskey collection contains a scrapbook. The book has “Newspaper Clippings” printed on the spine. “McCleskey” is on the front cover. This collection can be found on shelf 10/E/01 in the Personal Papers collection of the Mercer University Archives and Digital Initiatives.

Scope and Contents The papers cover the personal life and preaching career of Daniel Webster Key. The majority of the collection (5 folders) is correspondence, both personal and professional, from the last year of Dr. Key’s life (1926-1927). Also contained within the papers are several folders of sermons and sermon notes written by Dr. Key. The Allen Troy and Renva Smith Acree Collection contains the personal papers of Rev. A. Troy and Renva S. Acree. There are family papers, sermon notes, paperwork, newsletters, bulletins, and other papers.

The Cardwell Papers contain articles written by Cardwell for Church Administration, Church Training, The Deacon, Home Life, The Christian Index, and several Mercer University publications, including the Mercerian. In addition, there are pamphlets and units in three issues of Source, a Training Union study guide, written by Cardwell from 1965-1985. The articles were compiled and given to Mercer by Dr. Cardwell.
