Biographical / Historical
Donald Mackenzie Bain was a white man born on March 25, 1847, in Scotland. He was the son of John and Janette (Janet) Tullock Bain. He enlisted as a Private in the Confederate Army in the 18th Battalion of the Georgia Militia Cavalry on March 27, 1862. He was later appointed to Sergeant Major. Bain married Lucie G. Ellis on April 15, 1879 in Fulton County, Georgia. The couple had 4 children: Janet, Kenneth, Frank, and Donna. Donald M. Bain died in the Confederate Soldiers’ Home in Atlanta, Georgia on August 9, 1931.
