Biographical / Historical

Dellena Jelks was born to Reverend and Mrs. Hendley Francis Jelks in 1911. She attended Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia, in 1933. She also attended Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She taught school throughout the state of Georgia. Jelks was a member of First Baptist Church of Venice, Florida, and taught school for 27 years in Venice. Dellena Jelks died in 1994.
