Scope and Contents
The Godard Collection contains the personal papers of William Thomas Godard and George Delma Godard. The collection consists of sermon notes, correspondence, essays, and other materials belonging to both men. Series 1 contains of papers from William Thomas Godard. Series 2 contains of papers from George Delma Godard.

Biographical / Historical
William Thomas Godard was born in the fall of 1838. After fighting in the Confederate army, he served as Primitive Baptist preacher for forty years throughout the state of Georgia. He was married to Martha Missouri Brown and had six children: George D., Y. R., Fain W., W. B., D. G., and Carrie. William Thomas Godard died on August 16, 1908, in Milner, Georgia.
George Delma Godard born on December 11, 1869, to William T. and Martha M. Godard. He attended Mercer University in 1900 and 1901 and served as the principal of the Mercer Summer School in 1901. George married Elizabeth Alice Williams on December 23, 1894. They had two children: William Wallace and Mary Elizabeth. George was a Primitive Baptist minister like his father. He also served as the state school supervisor in Georgia. George Delma Godard died on September 18, 1960, in Milner, Georgia.
