Biographical / Historical

James Edgar Dillard, Jr., was the son of Rev. James Edgar Dillard, Sr., and Lillian Cotton Madison Dillard. He taught English at Bowdon State College prior to Fall 1931. Dillard was a graduate student in English at the University of Georgia from 1931 to 1933, earning his Master of Arts degree in 1932. He also attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary from 1934 to 1936. Dillard served as a Baptist pastor in Florida and Georgia. His Georgia pastorates included Jackson Hill Baptist Church, Clayton Baptist Church, and Colquitt Baptist Church. He retired in Rome, Georgia, and later served as a member of North Broad Baptist Church and preached at Armuchee Baptist Church, North Broad Baptist Church, and the Floyd County Baptist Pastors’ Conference.
