Biographical / Historical

Thomas J. Holmes was born in 1918. He served as the senior pastor of Tattnall Square Baptist Church, Macon, in the 1960s, preaching the importance of integration after the congregation blocked Sam Oni from attending. Although Tattnall Square fired Holmes, he continued to serve the Mercer University in various capacities. He passed away in Sandersville, Georgia, on January 3, 1985.
