Scope and Contents
The William Robert Pinkston Collection consists mostly of memorabilia from his graduation year, 1926. Two items are assumed to be at the University Center, a 1926 pennant and a 1950 uniform jersey.

Biographical / Historical
William Robert Pinkston was in the graduating class of 1926 at Mercer University. He was active across campus, fulfilling many duties: captain of the freshman basketball team, captain of the freshman baseball team, a member of the varsity baseball team, vice-president of the sophomore class, and many more. After graduating, he became a teacher, coach, and principal at Parrott High School and later on served as superintendent of the Terrell County School System for 16 years. He was inducted into the Mercer University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1973 and passed away at age 98 in 2000.
