Donald M. Bain Personal Scrapbook:
Scope and Contents
Evidently started on January 1, 1879. Apparently given “To my Darling… March 30th, 1890”. Contains hundreds of news clippings on a variety of subjects, including much poetry. Favorite subject is Robert Burns. Items are seldom dated; a few dates may be seen: 1908-1910, 1912-1914, 1917, and 1923. A few items were inserted by a later hand. They have been collected in a glassine envelope. Clippings related to two personal events have been discovered: the death of Miss Janet Bain, his daughter (p. 29), and Bain acquitted of murder charge (pp. 78-79).
