Arnold, Thomas
Arnold was a physician in Leicester, the town in which Carey lived and pastored immediately before leaving for India. Arnold founded a prominent lunatic asylum there. He made his personal library available to Carey. We know that Carey read rather extensively from this library. In 1817 Arnold’s personal library was sold over a period of 12 days in Leicester. Includes auction catalog from an Arnold descendant in Australia.
Brown University
Information about the 1806 honorary degree given to William Carey. Copy of letter W. C. sent to Brown in 1808 apparently to accompany a copy of one of his published works.
Budge, Thomas
Rev. Tom Budge was a local Leicester Baptist pastor who was a lay expert on Carey sites in England. Included here is correspondence with Tom and Betty Budge as well as his guide to Carey sites in Leicester and a Baptist pilgrim’s guide to England.
