Arnold, Thomas
Scope and Contents
Arnold was a physician in Leicester, the town in which Carey lived and pastored immediately before leaving for India. Arnold founded a prominent lunatic asylum there. He made his personal library available to Carey. We know that Carey read rather extensively from this library. In 1817 Arnold’s personal library was sold over a period of 12 days in Leicester. Includes auction catalog from an Arnold descendant in Australia.
