This Roman lamp came from Petra, a caravan city on the edge of the Jordanian desert (and shown in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). It is of terra cotta with a black painted ‘wash’ perhaps to imitate a more expensive metal lamp. It displays a homosexual act, rather than the heterosexual scene in the other lamp.
