Scope and Contents
The Carlos Flick papers consists of two boxes spanning Flick’s teaching career at Mercer University, as well as Flick’s lecture notes from the Master’s Program at Duke University. The first box contains correspondence (1958-1993); biographical materials (1958-1992); contracts with the University (1960, 1978, 1979, 1981-1992); changes in status reports; tuition waiver requests for his children; and a group photograph including Dr. Flick from 1983. These materials were received in Special Collections from the Dean’s Office on May 20, 1993. They were reviewed by Susan Broome, head of Special Collections, placed in order, and given the following descriptions. The first box also contains Flick’s self-examination reports from 1989 and 1991, sent to the University Archives by the Dean’s Office, College of Liberal Arts, on March 26, 1996; and the lecture notes from the Master’s Program, sent to the University Archives by the History Department on August 20, 1998.
The second box contains a manuscript of Flick’s unpublished book, Christian Ethics and History. The manuscript was given to Mercer by Jonathan A. Alderman, the attorney handling Flick’s estate, in October of 2000. The manuscript, as well as Flick’s published books, are cataloged in Mercer’s OPAC.
