We wish to concentrate on items that capture, preserve, and communicate the diversity of intellectual output of Mercer University and those that support its mission.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc28d0f elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"fc28d0f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Scope<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-907472d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"907472d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>Materials must support the overall mission of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercer.edu\/about-mercer\/mission-and-vision\/\">Mercer University<\/a>: &#8220;to teach, to learn, to create, to discover, to inspire, to empower, and to serve.&#8221;<\/li><li>Current priorities include:<ul><li>Materials that showcase the intellectual output of Mercer University.<\/li><li>Materials that illustrate the rich history of Mercer University.<\/li><li>Materials that highlight the history of Baptist life in Georgia.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c2cd8af elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c2cd8af\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Selection Criteria<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6bc77cb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6bc77cb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Materials will be evaluated based on the following criteria:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Value.<\/strong> Items that are deemed to be historically significant and intellectually valuable will be given higher priority for digitization.<\/li><li><strong>Uniqueness. <\/strong>Items that are not otherwise available online will be given high priority for digitization.<\/li><li><strong>Copyright.<\/strong> Only items that are either in the public domain or for which written permissions have been obtained from copyright holders will be included in URSA.<\/li><li><strong>Privacy.\u00a0<\/strong>Baptist churches and associations may request that their records more recent than 50 years have a rolling embargo online to protect the identifying information of living members and their families. The records will still be made available to in-person researchers in the archives.<\/li><li><strong>Accessibility. <\/strong>Items that are not otherwise accessible to patrons due to physical deterioration or digital format obsolescence will be given greater priority.<\/li><li><strong>Diversity.<\/strong> Items that represent unique, diverse perspectives will be prioritized for digitization.<\/li><li><strong>Metadata. <\/strong>Only items with sufficient information available for the creation of descriptive metadata, such as who created the work and its provenance (origin), may be included.<\/li><li><strong>Technical and physical feasibility.<\/strong> Items that can be digitized without damaging the original and with techniques that are currently supported at the Mercer University Archives will be prioritized.<\/li><li><strong>Resource requirements. <\/strong>The human and financial cost of a project will be considered when prioritizing URSA additions.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4263d62 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4263d62\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Restrictions<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-146d323 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"146d323\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Items may be restricted by the donor in the following ways:<\/p><ol><li>There are no restrictions.<\/li><li>Items can be only viewed on campus.<\/li><li>Items can be only viewed by Mercer affiliates, as identified by a current Mercer login.<\/li><li>Items have an embargo period during which only the metadata is visible.
