In-Person Library Access (Updated August 26, 2020)


  • All library locations are open to current Mercer students, faculty, and staff.
    • A valid Bear Card will be required to enter the buildings
    • Social distancing is strictly enforced 
    • All library users must wear masks per the Mercer University Face Covering Policy 
      • Users studying in groups while in open study spaces or in study rooms are required to wear masks
      • Students who are studying individually in enclosed study spaces are not required to wear a mask (must be worn in all other areas of the library)

Special Collections & Archives


Special Collections is now open to researchers by appointment only. 

Please request an appointment through our online form.

Appointments are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.  Please make your appointment at least two business days in advance:

Off-campus researchers without a Bear Card will need to be accompanied by a staff member to enter Tarver Library.  Please let us know at (478) 301-2968 when you have arrived.


Interlibrary Loan


Interlibrary Loan is available!

We are able to process requests for physical books as well as journal articles and book chapters, but there may be delays in processing requests.

Alumni Access

If you are alumni who would like to utilize our physical borrowing services, please call us to set up an appointment.

Returning Library Items

Returning items is easy:

  • If you are Mercer faculty, staff, or students, you can return items to the circulation desk
  • If you are local, you may return items using external book drops at the Swilley Library (Atlanta) or the Tarver Library (Macon). 
  • Internal book drops are available at the Douglas County Center (Lithia Springs) and the Henry County Library (McDonough).
