Chief of the Choctaw Nation from 1902 until his death. He is described as "a stalwart Baptist". Document Signed dated April 22, 1905 whereby the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations convey land in Indian Territory. It is signed by McCurtain as well as by the Governor of the Chickasaw Nation and by the Commissioner to the Five Civilized Tribes
