Baptist denominational leader and businessman. President of the American Baptist Churches USA; president of the American Baptist Men USA; president of the American Baptist Historical Society; president of West Virginia Baptist convention and the West Virginia Baptist Men; Board of Managers, Ministers and Missionaries Benefit Board. Received an honorary Doctorate of Human Letters from Alderson-Broaddus College for his outstanding service with the American Baptist community. Owner of Stewarts Hot Dogs, a fourth generation family-owned enterprise.
