Biographical / Historical
Ruth Dickey was born in Wollaston, Massachusetts. After completing public school and beginning teacher preparation at Farmington Normal School in Maine, she enrolled at Gordon College and learned of the need for teachers in Africa. After several years of teaching and student work, she recieved appointment to Sona Bata in 1930. She served at Sona Bata, Moanza, and at Banza Manteke Misson at Nsona Mpangu. She served from 1930 to 1949, when she retired from service. She then returned to public school teaching. She married George J. Williams in 1965.
