Biographical / Historical
Born in Ticonderoga, New York, Douglass graduated from Amherst College in 1851 and received a second degree in 1854. He married Anna Chloe Allen in 1854 and sailed from Boston on the ship Fleetwood to South India. Anna was a direct descendant of Ethan Allan. He arrived in 1855 and served as missionary to the Tellegoos for ten years. He returned to the U.S. in 1866 and lived in Cincinnati.

General
Missionaries with the Baptist Missionary Union brought the artifact from Nellore, South India 1854 to 1866. Bronze votary statue of one of bishnu's incarnations with two consort godesses. Most likely an artifact for household use.
