Biographical / Historical

Jesse Smith graduated from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and Hartford Theological Seminary in Connecticut. Smith married Cora Blanchard in 1899. Smith was appointed to missionary service and went to Burma in 1900. He taught at Judson College in Rangoon until 1915, when he returned to the U.S. He accepted the position of teacher of English and Bible at Suffield Academy and continued in that post until he retired in 1955. He served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent in the Second Church, Suffield, and was honorary pastor of the First Church in that city. From Watchman-Examiner Dec 20 1962
