Solar Eclipse Viewing Celebration @Tarver Library


The Eclipse

When:  Monday, August 21 at 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT

Where:  Cruz Plaza at Mercer University

What:  Dr. Matt Marone, department of physics, will set up his solar telescope and project the image to a screen in Cruz Plaza. There will be 100 pairs of NASA-approved eclipse glasses provided. The image from Dr. Marone’s telescope will also be streamed via Facebook live on the official Mercer University page.


The Celebration

In celebration of this event, Tarver Library will have a solar eclipse display. This display will be located by the Circulation Desk on the 2nd/main floor of the library and be available for viewing from August 9-31.

Additionally, "Make Your Own Pinhole Viewer" will take place on the main floor from August 9-21. Supplies for making a pinhole viewer to view the solar eclipse will be provided.

On August 21, enjoy celestial snacks as you await the coming of the solar eclipse.
