For more than 40 years, Judith Davis Brook exemplified the best in librarianship.  Regardless of the type of library where she worked, Judith’s keen dedication to helping library patrons find the books and materials they needed was obvious.  Her knowledge of many subjects, which is fostered by her passion for reading, combined with a strong sense of service, made her career a natural extension of her personality.

The blending of her passion and service was shared not only with library patrons, but also with her library colleagues at Mercer University.  For 28 years, as Associate Dean and Director of Swilley Library, she created opportunities for new challenges and responsibilities, while encouraging creativity, innovation, and scholarship.  Judith is remembered as a librarian and leader because of her commitment to advancing the careers and encouraging the talents of her library colleagues.

In honor of her legacy and to celebrate her retirement in Spring 2013, Judith’s friends and family established the Judith Davis Brook Professional Development Fund at Swilley LibraryThis Fund is used to support professional development activities for faculty and staff of Swilley Library.  It encourages faculty and staff to attend professional conferences and meetings and promotes research activities.  Thanks to this Fund, library staff are able to keep their skills sharp so that they can exude the service, knowledge and best practices in support of the academic success of Mercer students.

Because it is an investment in our staff members, the Fund will, in turn, strengthen the quality of service to our patrons.  Please consider making a gift to the Fund in Judith’s honor.  You may make a contribution, which is fully tax-deductible, by making an online commitment at giving.mercer.edu.  Please indicate on your gift that the designation is the Brook Library Fund.  Thank you for joining with friends, family, and colleagues in honoring Judith Brook’s exemplary service to students, faculty, and library colleagues during her long and distinguished career.
