Processing Information

Due to changes in the official way to transliterate Chinese words with Latin characters, Ningbo is the current (2022) name of the city formerly romanized as Ningpo. The locations are the same - "Ningpo" has been used in this collection when referring to titles and captions on historic documents. Ningbo has been used in the construction of the finding aid and wherever titles and captions have been applied by the archivist.
