Biographical / Historical

Rev. Dr. Charles Lincoln White was born on January 22, 1863 in Nashua, New Hampshire. His parents were George and Harriett White. He received his education from Brown University (BA), Newton Theological Seminary (BD), Bowdoin College (D. Div.), and Denison University (LL.D). He was ordained as a minister on October 13, 1890 at FBC in Somersworth, New Hampshire and later became pastor of that church from 1890-1894. He later became pastor of FBC in Nashua, New Hampshire from 1894-1900. He married Margaret Donalda Dodge on April 29, 1891 and they had five daughters, Jessie, Harriett, Katherine, Clarissa, and Mary. The two were married for 37 years until Margaret’s death in 1928. Dr. White was the corresponding and executive secretary for the American Baptist Home Mission Society (ABHMS) from 1908-1929 and later retired in 1929. From 1911-1941, he was a contributor to The Watchman Examiner. Dr. White was also one of the founders and officer of the Golden Rule Foundation of New York City. Dr. Charles Lincoln White died on April 19, 1941 at the age of 78.
