Biographical / Historical
Graduated from Shurtleff College in Illinois in 1904 and from Rochester Theological Seminary in 1907. In that year he also married Helen Scrogin. After graduating from the Seminary, he served for two and a half years as assistant to Bob Burdette, at Temple Baptist Church of Los Angeles. He left to go to Mexico City as pastor at the English speaking Baptist church there. Later he went to Puebla, Mexico as pastor of the Mexican Baptist Church. While in Puebla he built the Latin American Hospital for the American Baptist Home Mission Society. With headquarters in Los Angeles, he served as general missionary among the Mexicans and covered California, Colorado, Arizona and Kansas.
