Biographical / Historical

Elizabeth Margery Taylor was born in Puyallup, Washington in 1908 and received a BM from the University of Redlands, a BA from San Jose State Teachers College and an MA in Library Science from Berkeley. She was appointed in 1933 and sailed to Burma in 1934. She served until 1973 in both Burma and the Philippines. She taught English and music in the Union Christian High School in Rangoon. By 1974 she was teaching in the Kachin area in the North and was in charge of the Christian schools in Nampahka, a school with nearly 500 pupils. She worked on a Kachin hymnal and a book on Christian Home and Family Life with Kittie Thein. She also created a Bell Ringers choir at Central Philippines University in Iloilo.
